Our Birth Story

I want to just start out by saying I LoVeD being in labor & giving birth! Seriously!!!

On August 2nd @ 2:30 am I woke up with what I thought was just a routine bathroom break! I got up went to the bathroom and went back to bed. About 20 min later I woke up again with the same pain....Great I am sick! Got up again and went back to bed. The pain came back again and then I realized that this is what labor is. I decided to not wake Jordan up and just tired to sleep through contractions. Finally @ 6am I got up and called my gf Devry and asked her if I could be in labor. She obviously told me the obvious. So I finally told Jordan that I was in labor but that I was going to go to work because they were like 15 minuets apart, I was bored & couldn't sleep. Jordan put a stop to that and I called into work.

Let me just say that my biggest fear was being in false labor. I didn't want to call off of work to be in false labor! Good thing I was in real labor.

About 8am I got out of bed, showered and got ready between contractions. At this point they were probably like 12 minutes apart and my doc told us not to come in until they were 3-4 minuets apart. Jordan and I decided to go for a walk around the block. A few times I had to stop to breath through a contractions. We got home about 1 hr later and I vacuumed and Jordan worked in the yard. I tried to relax but had so much adrenaline I couldn't' really sit still! Jordan came in and made me a small lunch and then I called my sister Stefanie to see if I what I should do! At this point I thought my contractions were about 5-6 minutes apart. (I was logging my contractions with my I-phone app) While I was talking with Stef I had to hang up a few times to work thru a contraction. She told me that I should go to the hospital but I was still resistant because I didn't want to be sent home!!

It was about 2:15pm and I told Jordan that I wanted to go for a drive because I was bored! I know, I know!!!! At that time I had a pretty good contraction and we decided that it was time to go. On the 15 minute drive to the hospital I had a few good ones. We got to IMC about 2:30 and we walked in. Now I hadn't shed one tear of pain or anything until I walked into the hospital and they asked me my name & why I was there and then the tears came!!!! I am not sure where in the heck them came from but there were flowing!!!!!! Jordan finished speaking for me and they took me back to get checked. I changed, got comfy in a bed and then they checked me....I was @ a 4! Success!!! They were not sending me home!! We are going to have this baby! At that time they moved me into a labor and deliver suite! It was awesome! We had a great view of the mountains and a tv.

The labor and deliver nurse came in and introduced herself as Jenna! She was great!!!! After they hooked me up to the monitors I asked her if I was still contraction 4-5 minutes apart......I was contraction 2 minutes apart and just not feeling everything! Good thing I went into the hospital when I did!!! She asked me if I wanted my epidural, I asked if it would slow down my progression and they said no!!! So I said, BRING IT ON! They paged Dr. Farley (the anesthesiologist) and he came in. I told him that I wanted the lightest epidural that he could give me, I wanted to be able to move and feel my legs & feel when I needed to push. And he did just that! He gave me the lowest dose and gave me control to add more medicine as I needed/wanted. By this time (about 3:15pm) Hillary had arrived and then the fun started!

Jordan hooked up the computer to the TV so we could watch a movie. What were we thinking!! We turned the movie off and cranked the tunes. We all chatted and I sucked on grape flavored ice chips while Hillary & Jordan snacked on whatever the hospital had in the special fathers/visitors room! Hillary was amazed watching the contractions that I was having on the screen and I was amazed that I didn't have to feel a thing! Heaven! I did however push my epidural button one time because I felt something!!!

They came and broke my water about 4:30 ish. Dr. Ponder came in about 5pm to check me and I was @ a 5+. She told me that she probably wasn't going to be able to deliver me because she rode her bike to work and didn't want to ride home in the dark. Fine by me. I just wanted to know who was going to deliver me. She told me and said that she would come and check on me before she left.

Dr. Ponder came in about 6:10 ish and I told her I was feeling some pressure. She checked me and I was ready to go! She & the nurse had to get everything ready. My nurse had told me previously that new mom's usually push for about 2 hours.....OK! Whatever, I mean, that is what I was there to do!!! At about 6:26 I gave my first of 3 pushes!! London was born after 9 pushes @ 6:42 pm weighing 6 lbs 12 oz & 21 1/2 inches long!!!!!! At one point during my pushing was started to laugh because I couldn't believe I was having my dream delivery!!! The doctor told me to stop laughing because London was literally sliding out of me!!!

Best day of our married life thus far!!!!!! We couldn't have been happier with our new baby and how everything went!!!

I was so grateful for my wonderful doctor & nurses @ IMC. My experience there was the best!!!

I just cannot believe that it has been six months...today! Writing this all down makes me giddy! I can't wait for next time!!

This girl is so much fun & has so many faces!!! We are obsessed!!!

London Times

Wow! My baby is 6 months today! I really can't believe how time is literally flying by! London has brought so much joy to Jordan and I. More joy than either of us could have thought possible. London is the happiest baby! She is a wonderful night time sleeper and occasionally she will take a really good day time nap or two. She loves everyone and everything! Jordan and I constantly are saying we can't believe that she is ours and are just in awe at how amazing she is.

At 6 months London loves:

  • To TALK

  • To Eat...she is eating oatmeal, rice cereal & prunes

  • To blow bubbles

  • To look at herself in the mirror

  • To suck on her toes & anything for that matter

  • To swim

  • To play with toys

  • Her Violet & her Sophie the giraffe

  • To watch other kids play

  • London loves to sleep on her side. And has to have her binki to sleep! It's so fun to watch her maneuver the binki into her mouth. We are so happy when she figured that out a few months ago

  • She is very ticklish...just like her Daddy

  • She loves to have a blanket by her face to fall asleep. It's so fun to watch her fall asleep.

  • She is a becoming a champ at pulling herself up to sit!! The girl must have some great abs.

  • She has to be looking around at everything and everyone! She doesn't want to miss anything

  • London loves to cuddle when she is tired! Mommy & Daddy love it too

  • Unfortunately she loves the dog that has been living with us for 6 months!!!

We are taking her to the doctor next week so I will update her stats then! At 4 months she was:

25 1/2 inc (80th)

12 lbs 8 oz (29th)

We have a tall skinny girl on our hands!!!

I am worried about how quickly the next 6 months are going to go by! I want my baby to be a baby! However, we really do love watching her grow up and learn new things daily. I am so happy that I get to be London's mommy!!!

Happy 6 months baby girl!!!
